UP allots Rs 1,200 crore for 74km link between Noida airport, Ganga expressway

Noida: UP govt has released Rs 1,204 crore for land acquisition for a 74.3km access-controlled greenfield expressway that will stitch together the Ganga and Yamuna expressways and create a faster, direct road link to the upcoming Noida International Airport.The corridor is expected to cut travel time for commuters from western UP and decongest key industrial stretches by offering a new, high-speed route.The money was sanctioned with the governor's approval and released by the infrastructure and industrial development department after UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) moved a proposal. An order said the Rs 1,204 crore had been approved in the 2025-26 financial year specifically to purchase land within the jurisdiction of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).UPEIDA, officials said, will be the nodal executing agency. After YEIDA completes acquisition in its notified area and the Bulandshahr administration finishes proceedings on its side, the land will be handed over to UPEIDA for a detailed design, tendering and construction. UPEIDA will also integrate the link with the existing expressway network and ensure timelines and cost norms are met.The approval formalises the acquisition process YEIDA announced last year, when it said it would acquire about 740 acres from 16 villages under its jurisdiction, pegging the cost at around Rs 1,200 crore.The overall project cost is estimated at about Rs 4,000 crore. Land acquisition will span 56 villages across two districts — 16 in Gautam Budh Nagar and the rest in Bulandshahr. In Bulandshahr district, 14 villages fall in Khurja tehsil, with the remainder spread across Bulandshahr, Syana and Shikarpur tehsils. Officials said the alignment had been finalised. The expressway will start at the 44.3km point on Ganga Expressway near Syana and merge with Yamuna Expressway at the 24.8km point near YEIDA Sector 21.Around 20km of the corridor will fall in YEIDA's area, including a nearly 9km elevated section. Plans include a 24-metre-wide service road in Yamuna City, two road overbridges and multiple underpasses. The corridor is expected to improve airport access for traffic from Meerut, Bulandshahr, Khurja and Syana, strengthen links towards Agra, Greater Noida and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, ease pressure on Yamuna City's industrial sectors and support cargo movement to the airport.
